Garrett the Slug is a Snake variant. The player controls Garrett over the single screen in order to collect colored items (labeled foodstuff). However, each time one is eaten, Garrett leaves a longer slime trails behind his way. When he hits either his own trail or one of the rocks, the game is over, the amount of collected foodstuff is displayed and a new level is created.

The rocks are permanent during one round, but the foodstuff re-spawns in other locations when collected.
