Most revisions of the PlayStation addressed known hardware issues or aimed to lower manufacturing costs and time. External changes were minor, for example, the removal of external I/O ports, until the introduction of the miniaturised "PS one" console revision. The final digit in the model number represents the region code of the console. Model numbers ending in '0' (e.g. SCPH-xxx0) were released in Japan (NTSC-J). Models ending in '1' denote North America (NTSC-U/C). Models ending in '2' signify PAL regions including Europe and Australia. Finally, '3' indicates Asia outside of Japan.
