Description
"Tortugas Pijas (Posh Turtles) is a highly rare and obscure 2D side-scrolling action-platformer developed and published by Ediciones Manali. Capitalizing heavily on the global Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pop-culture phenomenon of the early 1990s, this legally dubious Spanish bootleg replaces the classic four ninja brothers with an attitude-infused trio of mutated, anthropomorphic trend-chasing 'posh' turtles. Instead of traditional martial arts gear and colored masks, the characters are designed with distinctly human 1990s fashion stereotypes: one radical turtle skates on a skateboard while sporting a backward baseball cap, another rocks a cool pair of dark sunglasses, and the third boasts a massive, pompadour-style Elvis Presley haircut. Players guide these bizarre reptilian heroes across linear urban sewer and street level platforms, jumping over hazards and bashing generic street thugs. The game's engine was heavily compressed to fit on budget magazine coverdisks, displaying its character sprites and backdrops in a high-contrast 4-color CGA layout (using neon green, bright yellow, red, and black) accompanied by basic internal PC-speaker bleeps."
