Anti-piracy change: products shipped from 2000-12-28 have a revised main board without MIL-CD playback (ja.wikipedia citing ITmedia/SBG 2001-01-17). The exact switch point is unclear; it roughly matches the 2000-11-01 company name change, so the maker name on the case bottom is a rough guide only (ja.wikipedia). Late boxes say 'MIL-CD非対応'. ja.wikipedia (uncited) says MIL-CD-less units are well under 10% of Japanese production, and that reassembled and refurbished units sold later are mostly MIL-CD capable. Revision board ids (VA0/VA1/VA2 etc.) were not found in the sources read.
