Description

The standard Japanese Dreamcast, released on 27 November 1998 for JPY 29,800 with an orange swirl logo. Its price fell to JPY 19,900 on 24 June 1999 and to JPY 9,900 in March 2001.

Orange 'Dream Orange' swirl logo (JP, NA and Asia; ja.wikipedia citing a Sega quiz page). Front text 'Designed for Microsoft Windows CE' (es.wikipedia). Supports MIL-CD (removed on units shipped from 2000-12-28, see dc-jp-milcd-less). Box: console, 1 controller, stereo AV cable, power cable, 5 m modular cable, manual, Dream Passport disc (Sega). Modem: 33.6 kbit/s per Sega (spec table and column); CONFLICT: en.wikipedia (Gaming Hacks, O'Reilly) says Japanese consoles sold after 1999-09-09 have a 56 kbit/s modem. Early boxes used scenes from the 'Yukawa senmu' TV ads; later boxes were plain white (Sega). Sega's hardware encyclopedia gives the model number as 'HKT-5000 and others' (型番 HKT-5000 他). Collector sources label the console units HKT-3000 (JP), HKT-3020 (NA) and HKT-3030 (PAL); in the sources read here these three codes appear only in es.wikipedia image captions, so they are not…
