We don’t make things up.The DualShock (originally Dual Shock, trademarked as DUALSHOCK or DUAL SHOCK, with the PlayStation 5 version as DualSense) is a line of gamepads developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation family of video game consoles. It is named for vibration-feedback and analog controls. Introduced in November 1997, it was initially marketed as a secondary peripheral for the first PlayStation console. The console's bundle was updated to include DualShock, and phase out the original PlayStation controller and the Dual Analog Controller. The DualShock is the best-selling gamepad of all time by units sold, excluding bundled controllers.

Adds vibration feedback back to the Sixaxis motion-sensing design. Announced at Tokyo Game Show 2007; released Japan 2008-01-11 (Black and Ceramic White, matching the new console colours), a Satin Silver Japanese unit 2008-03-06, US 2008-04-02, Europe 2008-07-02. Became the standard bundled controller worldwide from 2008-10-30 (80 GB CECHK/L/M launch). Later colours (release dates not individually itemised in the sources checked): Gun-Metal Grey, "Cloud Black" (dark grey, Final Fantasy VII bundle), a March 2011 MLB 11: The Show baseball-themed edition, Metallic Gold (Europe June 2012, US GameStop exclusive October 2012), a God of War: Ascension white edition (UK bundle), and a translucent "Crystal" edition (Japan, announced 2013-11-01).
