Estimate: exact units produced unknown.The Genesis Nomad, also known as Sega Nomad, is a handheld game console manufactured by Sega exclusively for North America and released in October 1995. The Nomad is a portable variation of the Sega Genesis home video game console (known as the Mega Drive outside North America). It could also be used with a television set via a video port. It was based on the Mega Jet, a portable version of the home console designed for use on airline flights in Japan. The Nomad was the last handheld console released by Sega. Released late in the Genesis era, it had a short lifespan. It was sold exclusively in North America, and uses regional lockout.

sega.jp: developed with Japan Airlines; controller-shaped Mega Drive with built-in 6-button pad, no screen; rented on JAL international flights (first and business class) from 1993-07-01, powered and connected to the seat LCD by a dedicated cord; one extra pad port for 2 players. Retail version adds a mono DIN plug cord and AC adapter (DC 10V EIAJ, ~7 W); 224 x 94 x 47.8 mm. Cannot use the Mega Adaptor, Mega Modem, Mega-CD or Cordless Pad 6B. An Alpine-branded car version with a cigarette-lighter adapter also existed (ja.wikipedia variations; Sega Retro code HMJ-0301).
