Mega Drive / Genesis

Sega · 33 models · 291 variants · 94 accessories · 1,641 games

The Mega Drive, sold in North America as the Sega Genesis, is Sega's 16-bit console of the fourth generation. It came out in Japan on 29 October 1988, in North America in August 1989 and in Europe in 1990.

This is one of the largest sections of the catalog, with more than 30 models. Model 1 appears in early boards without the TMSS security screen and in VA6 and later boards with it, followed by the Mega Drive II / Genesis model 2 (1993), the Mega-CD / Sega CD and 32X add-ons, and combined or licensed units such as the Wondermega, Multi-Mega (Genesis CDX), TeraDrive, Amstrad Mega PC, Genesis Nomad and Mega Jet. There are also Brazilian Tectoy and Korean Samsung versions and Majesco's Genesis 3.

AV cables differ between revisions: Model 1 uses an 8-pin DIN connector, Model 2 a 9-pin mini-DIN.
