Digital-only D-pad + 4-button gamepad; no analog sticks or vibration. SCPH-1010 (Japan, 1994-12-03) was later joined by SCPH-1080 (overseas, released in Japan 1996-04-02), ~10% larger with a longer cable and a ferrite bead noise filter; functionally identical. Bundled with consoles through the SCPH-7000 series, after which DualShock became standard.
