There’s no units produced with a source and not enough listings. We don’t make things up.Sony produced several models of the PlayStation (PS1) video game console from 1994 to 2006. Most revisions of the PlayStation addressed known hardware issues or aimed to lower manufacturing costs and time. External changes were minor, for example, the removal of external I/O ports, until the introduction of the miniaturised "PS one" console revision. The final digit in the model number represents the region code of the console. Model numbers ending in '0' (e.g. SCPH-xxx0) were released in Japan (NTSC-J). Models ending in '1' denote North America (NTSC-U/C). Models ending in '2' signify PAL regions including Europe and Australia. Finally, '3' indicates Asia outside of Japan.

BIOS 4.1 (1997-12-16) across the series. Major manufacturing cost reduction: metal-beam CD drive (fixes FMV-skipping issues seen on earlier plastic-sled units), fewer memory/CD-controller chips, sharper A/V output. Units built April-May 1999 reuse the SCPH-900x case with the parallel port covered but not removed. Release dates are BIOS-build dates.
