It is the successor to the PlayStation Eye for the PlayStation 3, which was released in 2007. It is also the motion sensor used to track the PlayStation VR virtual reality headset.

Cylindrical shape (vs the rectangular v1) with an adjustable stand built into the housing rather than a hinge. Not interchangeable with PS VR CUH-ZVR1 (needs CUH-ZVR2 instead).
