Sega · 18 models · 78 variants · 32 accessories · 433 games

The Master System is Sega's 8-bit home console. It began as an export version of the Sega Mark III, which came out in Japan on 20 October 1985, and reached the West in 1986.

The catalog lists the Mark III (SG-1000M3), the black Power Base (model 3010) of 1986, the Japanese Master System MK-2000 (1987), the Master System II (MK-3006, 1990) and many licensed versions. Tectoy in Brazil built a whole line from 1989 to 2009, including the Master System III Compact, Girl, Handy and Evolution, and Samsung sold the Gam*Boy in South Korea. Accessories include the Light Phaser, the SegaScope 3-D Glasses, the FM Sound Unit (FM-70) and the Rapid Fire Unit.

The Light Phaser was not released in Japan and does not work on the Mark III.
